Two Apps Launch on Google Play for XREAL Aura and Android XR
IoTone Japan has launched two new applications on the Google Play store as part of today’s XREAL Aura launch. The Aura is the first XR glasses form factor available for Android XR.
We were selected as part of a small group of developers to participate in the pre-launch program, and we have been building on the XREAL Aura since May of 2026.

We’ve made significant progress on Thread-based P2P chat across four ESP32-C6 nodes. The system enables broadcast messaging via serial UART and 1-on-1 direct messaging, all at a cost of under $8 per device.
Inspired by OLPC-era infrastructure-free protocols, this work targets STEM education and explores three research directions: mesh networking for XR, wearable personal area networks (PANs), and Hive Centric AI.

Thread/Matter Mesh Networking Experiments with M5NanoC6
We’ve been running Arduino-based mesh networking experiments using the M5NanoC6, building ad-hoc networks that require no infrastructure. The goal is to bring back device-to-device sharing capabilities inspired by IR, AirDrop, and BLE Mesh.
Our tests showed a stable 80-foot range with two nodes. Next steps include a generalized codebase and UART chat interface.

First Meshtastic Community Event in Fukuoka
We hosted the first community Meshtastic event at Fukuoka Engineer Cafe, introducing offline mesh networking to the local community. Japan currently has only 7 public Meshtastic nodes compared to over 350 in the San Francisco Bay Area, and our goal is to help expand that network.
The event covered the basics of Meshtastic, demonstrated 3D-printed device cases, and discussed grant funding opportunities for building local mesh network infrastructure.
